Clarence Celestine Gulling, 1833-1897, and his wife Sarah Madru Gulling, 1836-1922. The woman in the middle is possibly their daughter, Kate. The Gullings came to the U.S. from France shortly after their marriage in 1854. Celestine later served in the Union Army.

George William Steadman, 1815-1893, and his wife Elizabeth Heistand Long Steadman, 1820-1902. Photo circa 1890. George was a blacksmith, grocer, baker and farmer in Ohio and Iowa. In the Civil War, Elizabeth went behind enemy lines to care for her son who was sick with typhoid fever in a Confederate prison.
