George F. Ingle, 2nd Lieut., Co. G, 23 Reg't Iowa Infantry appears on a Company Muster-in Roll of the organization named above. Roll dated Des Moines, Iowa, Sept. 19, 1862. Where born: Edgar, Illinois; age 31 years; occupation sawyer; when enlisted Aug 15, 186(blank)*; where enlisted Des Moines; for period of 3 years; eyes grey; hair dark; complexion fair; height 5 ft 11.5 in; when mustered in Sept 19, 1862.
*Muster-in roll shows enlistment of all men of this company as of same date. See enrollment on subsequent card or cards.

George F. Ingle. 2nd Lieut., Co. G, 23 Reg't Iowa Infantry appears on Company Muster Roll for Nov. & Dec., 1862. Joined for duty and enrolled: when August 15, 1862; where Des Moines, Iowa; period 3 years. Absent. Remarks: Absent sick in Hospital at Ironton, Mo., from 25th to 31st of Dec.

George F. Ingle. 2nd Lieut., Co. G, 23 Reg't Iowa Infantry appears on Company Muster Roll for Jan'y & Feb'y, 1863. Joined for duty and enrolled: when August 15, 1862; where Des Moines, Iowa; period 3 years. Present.

MEDICAL CERTIFICATE
Second Lieut. George F. Ingle of Company G of the Twenty Third Regiment of Iowa Volunteer Infty having applied for a Certificate on which to ground a Resignation. I do hereby certify, that I have carefully examined this officer, and find that he is laboring under Asthma which he has had from boyhood he is also suffering from chronic Diarrhoea and severe cough and that in consequence thereof, his is, in my opinion, unfit for duty. I further declare my belief that he will not be able to resume his duties in a less period than two months if ever on active service as every change of wheather he is entirely incapacitated for duty.
Dated at West Plains, Mo. this 7th day of Feby., 1863.

Sir,
I herby tender you my Resignation as 2nd Lieut. of Co. G, 23rd Iowa Infty. For the reason that my health is such as to render me unable to perform the duties of an officer in my position. It also renders me unable to endure the fatigues and hardships of Camp life. See Surgeon's certificate hereto annexed. 
I certify that I am not indebted to the United States Government in money or property. I was mustered with the United States Service on the 19th day of September 1862 by C. J. Ball and was last paid by Major Withnall (?) up to the 31st of December 1862.
